Charles Schulz Philosophy-a keeper e-mail

Charles Schultz Philosophy

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America Contest.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress..
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. They are not second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?
The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are NOT the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones who care.
Share this with those who have made a difference in your life.
I just did!

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today.
It's already tomorrow in Australia "

Peli ponders the Bucket List

There is a new movie out that I have seen the previews to...(and probably won't see it) but it is about two men who become friends and experience things on their "list" before they "kick the bucket." So...I was pondering what would I like to experience in my lifetime? Oh...I need a bit of an imagination here but one thing would be to see a whale up close. I would love that! What would you like to do before you die?? Oh...the other thing I'd like to do is get an imagination! It's been awhile since I have had real dreams. I need to warm up my "dreamer lobe".

"I'll praise You in this storm"

We sang a song that touched me so much in church today. Of course I have sung this often but today it just spoke to me powerfully. It was a great worship song... basically offering praise to God in the good times and the bad. I can't imagine what Job really felt when he went through his testing. His reponse was so important to what happened in his future.

Now the following lyrics are not the song we sang in church but rather one that speaks a similar message. It is a song by "Casting Crowns".

"I was sure by now / That You would have reached down / And wiped our tears away / stepped in and saved the day / but once again, I say "Amen," and its still raining. As the thunder rolls / I barely hear you whisper through the rain / "I'm with you" / And as Your mercy falls / I raise my hands and praise the God that gives / And takes away.

I'll Praise you in this storm / And I will lift my hands / For You are who You are / No matter where I am / Every tear I've cried / You hold in your hand / You never left my side / And though my heart is torn / I will Praise You in this storm.

I remember when / I stumbled in the wind / You heard my cry / You raised me up again / My strength is almost gone / How can I carry on? / If I can't Find you ? As the thunder rolls / I barely hear you whisper through the rain / "I'm with you" / And as Your mercy falls / I raise my hands and praise the God that gives / And takes away

Where does my help come from? / My help comes from the Lord / The maker of Heaven and Earth I lift my eyes into the hills / Where does my help come from? / My help comes from the Lord / The maker of Heaven and Earth I'll Praise you in this storm

Happy New Year! 2008

A beloved pastor once told us, "Instead of focusing on the resolutions of man, FOCUS on the promises of God." As we focus on God and what He wants for us, as we FOCUS on Him, we become more like HIM, and the resolutions take care of themselves. If there is anything I want to do most it is to become more like HIM. He is my role model. One thing I do want to concentrate on is being more INTENTIONAL about my life. Doing things for a purpose. HIS PURPOSE.

who me?

For those of you who are asking for a pic of me.

I think it is a bit frightening!

"Grow old with me, the best is yet to be."
